The charges had been dismissed, but Oakland County Clerk Jessica Cooper appealed. The Court of Appeals issued their determination Sept. 10, reinstating charges and sending the case back to the Circuit Court level. Charges are related to possession and intent to distribute marijuana.

Ferndale Detective Brendan Moore is the finalist in a National Anthem Singing Contest being held by Comerica Bank, with a chance to sing in front of an upcoming Detroit Tiger’s Game.
The prize also includes a Ticket package and a $10,000 grant for the Ferndale Police if Moore wins.

The Troupes have descended on Ferndale! Over 200 improv comedians are in town for the annual Detroit Improv Festival, which takes place throughout Ferndale from Aug. 7-11. Locations include Go Comedy, The Ringwald, Como’s, and the Rust Belt Market. And the entertainment includes both improv shows and workshops.

If passed, the ordinance would reduce possession from a misdemeanor to a civil infraction in the city, and removes the requirement of fines, which can be up to $1,000 and up to a year in jail. The ordinance would apply to adults 21 and over, and only for marijuana in amounts of one ounce or less on private property.

The founder and president of the Detroit Bus Company in Ferndale has donated a 20-ton portable air conditioning unit and diesel generator to the Oakland County Animal Control & Pet Adoption Center for the rest of the summer. Andy Didorosi, 26, asked Hertz Rental to deliver the equipment Friday. They worked with the county’s Facilities Management Department in the late afternoon to install it. The A/C unit will keep the dogs and cats at the Center cool on hot summer days.

For over thirty three years, Jerry enjoyed his work as a teacher and principal for Ferndale Public Schools. Jerry and Pauline raised their family of three boys in the Farmington area and moved to Commerce Township after Jerry’s retirement in 1991.
