It’s that time of year again! This Saturday, May 12th, Claddagh Chiropractic is having their third annual Spring Into Health Festival from 10am to 1pm. There will be many activities and fun for the whole family, including vendor tables and a silent auction. 100% of the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society via Relay for Life.

The event brought together musicians, artists, booksellers, poets and other writers. Attendees each received a used book from the Library’s bookstore and a rose.

Now, many years later, Bach is the owner of Dino’s Lounge at 22740 Woodward. The “upscale but not uptight” restaurant/bar has been a Ferndale favorite since 2002, and Bach is well-known for his involvement in the community and for the events he takes part in.

The Emory provided pasta and two different sauces; Shriner Silver Garden brought the salads; and desserts were from Peteet’s Cheese Cakes, Treat Dreams, and Dave’s Sweet Tooth Toffee.

The Ferndale Environmental Sustainability Commission and the Ferndale Downtown Development Authority are combining efforts with that of the local business community to host the 4th annual Ferndale Green Week. The week of events are an opportunity for residents to not only celebrate Earth Day 2012 but also get to know some local businesses that are doing their part to help celebrate the earth year-round.

Street Eats Wednesday was an experimental event held on March 21, 2012 in the alley behind Rust Belt Market. Mobile vendors such as Jacques Tacos, Treat Dreams, and El Guapo Grill came out to serve the thousands of people who came out to the food truck rally.

The Michigan Mobile Food Vendors Association (MMFVA) will bring Street Eats Wednesday to Ferndale tomorrow, Wednesday, March 21 from 4pm-9pm at the Rust Belt Market at the corner of Woodward Avenue and Nine Mile Road.

The Boy Scouts went up against Motor City Free Geek to see which project would take home the money raised by the $5 door donations. Those who attended paid $5 and enjoyed two different types of soup, bread and salad. They listened to the presentations and used voting beans to select the project they collectively wanted to fund. The Fifth Annual Rib Burn Off was a sizzling success, serving a record-breaking 848 people over 1,500 lbs of ribs all in the name of charity! The Rib Burn Off is part of the Ferndale Blues and Music Festival, which raises money for Michigan AIDS Coalition and Ferndale Youth Assistance.

This event allows people to discover restaurants they may have never heard of before and be reintroduced to some favorites they may not have visited in a while.”

This month’s Charity is Ferndale Soup. The premise of Ferndale Soup is simple. On the third Sunday of each month, a bunch of people get together and each pay $5 to enjoy some soup (and other delicious food) and listen to presentations about projects that people would like to start. Then they vote on which project gets to take home the funding.

Here’s how it works: People go to the big tent set up in the parking lot between Dino’s and the Library, pay $10, and sample ribs from eight different teams. Then they vote on which they like the best. The money raised goes to support the Michigan AIDS Coalition and the Ferndale Youth Assistance. The Burn Out takes place Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 starting at noon and rocking on past sunset.
