The Ferndale Education Foundation had its annual fundraiser on March 15, this year in the form of a toga party! Celebrating the Ides of March, supporters of student extracurricular activities and educational opportunities gathered for a feast where there wore bedsheets and leafy crowns and participated in a raffle drawing.
In a previous interview, FEF President Barb Landry explained some of the great projects that are funded through FEF events. “This is one-off the best committees I personally work on. It is all about fundraising and putting money into classrooms for innovative projects. We spend over $35, 000 a
year giving back to our kids and schools. Fun things like Camp Skyline for FPS Students, mixing up 100+ kids where they learn team building and so much more. Tutoring for students during the year and then again extra help in the summer, Teacher Grants sub-project can be done in the classrooms that normally couldn’t, Trips to see Shakespeare for the 11th and 12th grade honor English classes, ACT prep for our kids time get into college, and so much more,” she said.
Special correspondent Larry Mills took photographs of the party-goers in their ceremonial garb.
