For the Love of Reading Artist Reception March 8modern tax

(FPL Press Release, March 7, 2013)

An Artists’ Reception will be held at the library on Friday, March 8, 7 – 9pm with live music by Honest to Goodness, featuring The Mythics. And there will be refreshments!

Celebrating reading and literature’s ability to inspire, “For the Love of Reading” is an art exhibition at the Ferndale Public Library, running from Saturday, March 2 – Sunday, April 21.

Artworks drawn from beloved stories, depictions of engrossed readers and book covers real and re-imagined will be on exhibit. “For the Love of Reading” is held in concurrence with “Ferndale Reads” and “The Day of Books and Roses.”

Books transport us to other worlds, elevate our ideas, and spark our imaginations. Ferndale Public Library’s latest exhibition “For The Love of Reading” commemorates the relationship of reader to tome and the timeless Ferndale Reads Ad copystories carried in their pages, from the Old English epic poem Beowulf to recent bestseller, Little Bee. Artwork will be in a variety of mediums, including oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings, photographs and even an elaborately altered book.

Contributes range from first time exhibitors to award winning artists and include Nicole Burroughs, Barbara Campara, Julie Craigo, Ben DeFever, Paul Erlandson, Diane Irby, Rachel Joanisse, B.P. LeGault, Peggy Kerwin, Rick Lieder, Marco Mancinelli, Marija Makeska, Zachary McInchak, Juana Moore, Sarah Previch, Jerry Shirts, Justin Tumey and Jayde Williams. A special display of works by Ferndale High School Students will be in the Corridor Gallery and works by Ferndale Middle

School students will be displayed in the Kids Corner.
