Planning is well underway for the annual Ferndale Pride festival set for Saturday June 1st, 2013, with events all that week and weekend. The family-friendly event celebrates LGBT culture and activism, as well as the general diversity of the Ferndale community.

“The gay pride festival is for everyone, and our straight allies are an integral part of moving American society DDAsample02and the culture to a place that welcomes everyone,” said Coordinator Craig Covey.

Among the events is the Rainbow Run, where participants are splashed with a cornstarch-based paint at various stations along the run’s route.  The event sold out last year, and early bird registration is now available for the 2013 event. Sign up at http://www.rainbow-run.com/.

There will also be live music, vendor booths, speeches, specials at local bars and retailers and more.

Ferndale Pride is accepting volunteers, sponsors and booth rentals.  Find out more at http://www.ferndalepride.com/.
