Police Report: Two Gun Incidents

FOOT CHASE AND GUN RECOVERED 130001343
On 02/12/13 at about 10:00 a.m. a Ferndale officer was flagged down by a woman who pointed out two people and said they were smoking marijuana in the bus stop at 8 Mile / Livernois. The officer approached the two individuals who he knew by name and as members of a gang. When he approached he called for the woman to stop and she refused, and walked away. The officer spoke with the man (BYRD) and determined that the two had been smoking marijuana. The officer recovered a small amount of marijuana from BYRD and in the process of arresting him, tried to check in the man’s backpack. BYRD turned and ran and the officer chased him. While running BYRD took his back pack off, unzipped it and reached inside; he then tripped and fell and dropped a handgun (Colt, .38 cal. Revolver) that came out of the back pack. The officer, along with a back-up officer, took Byrd into custody.
Officers later tracked down the woman nearby and arrested her; she struggled and resisted arrest.
SUSPECT #1: RONDALE TYRIC BYRD, b/m , 18, Detroit resident.
Charged with: 1) Carrying Concealed Weapon, 5 year felony 2) Resisting a Police Officer, 2 yr. felony 3) 
Possession of Controlled Substance, 1 yr. misdemeanor
SUSPECT #2: BRIA NICOLE WHITE, b/f, 18, Detroit resident.
Charged with: 1) Resisting a Police Officer 2) Use of Marijuana, 90 day misdemeanor
ARRAIGNMENT: Magistrate Brennan arraigned the two on 02/13/13 and set bond for BYRD at $25,000 cash/surety. Bond for WHITE was set at $5000 cash/surety
GUN RECOVERED FROM GLOVE BOX 130001313
On 02/13/13 at 2:15 a.m. a Ferndale officer observed a Honda run a stop sign at Saratoga / Woodward, then speed n.b. on Woodward. The officer stopped the car and spoke with the driver ( SIBA). The officer noticed that SIBA had the odor of intoxicants on his breath. When the officer asked if the person had 
contraband in the car, SIBA told him that he had a handgun in the glove box. The officer then recovered a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol in the glove box and several rounds of ammunition in the trunk.
SUSPECT: MANHAL SIBA, w/m, 25 yrs, Warren resident .
Charged with: Carrying Concealed Weapon, 5 year felony.
ARRAIGNMENT: Magistrate Brennan arraigned Siba on 02/13/13 and set a $5000 personal bond.
